  • Is Skinner Watch Repair qualified to repair my watch?
    Owner & horologist, Steve Skinner, received intense training from and is a graduate of the National Horological Institute.  He is a Certified Master Horologist and member of The Society For Professional Watchmakers.   Skinner Watch Repair is a certified Limited Liability Corporation (L.L.C.) registered with the State of New Jersey.  Email us at skinnerwatch@verizon.net to discuss all of your watch repair questions.

    An estimate of repair fee of $25 plus shipping is charged only after an estimate is completed and a customer elects not to use our services.  All customers will receive a fair and exact price quote. 

  • Is shipping my watch to Skinner Watch Repair a safe choice?
    At Skinner Watch Repair we do understand that your watch is very valuable to you and may even have sentimental meaning.  Shipping your valuable watch here is easy AND safe.  Pack the watch safely and securely yourself and use any shipping company you choose, or take it to a shipping center such as a UPS store or the USPS where they will properly and safely package the watch for you. WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND INSURING YOUR PACKAGE for the replacement value of the watch(es).    Print and complete the WARRANTY Repair Ticket Form provided on this website and enclose it with your watch. You can also get a tracking number by obtaining a delivery confirmation form from the shipping company.

    When your watch is received at Skinner Watch Repair, it is immediately given a job number and you will receive a confirmation phone call or email.  We will examine and diagnose your watch's repair needs and call you with a firm price quote usually within one week from receipt of the watch .

    Your watch will be insured and returned safely to you in a well padded and protected shipping box via USPS Priority Mail. 


    How long will it take to get my watch back?

    Most quartz and kinetic watches are returned within 6 weeks.  If your watch requires a part to be special ordered, custom dial/hand refinishing, or requires a more complex repair, it can take additional time. All mechanical/automatic watches require a minimum of 6+ weeks for repair.  Parts such as bands, links, clasps, or screws can take anywhere from 10 days to 4 weeks to arrive; Tag Heuer parts and some other companies' parts can take 8-12 weeks to arrive in our shop.

    Skinner Watch Repair, LLC Service Guarantee: repairs are warranted for 6 months to 1 year from date of original repair for labor charges only as indicated on your invoice: 

    Seiko, Pulsar, Anne Klein and Citizen repairs have a 6-month warranty; high grade watches i.e. Tag Heuer, Raymond Weil, Movado, Rolex have a one year warranty; warranties are exclusive of bands, band parts and crystals.    

    Repair warranty extends only to our rework of the repair and a copy of original invoice must accompany all warranty work.  Opening and/or tampering with a watch we have repaired voids all warranties.  Damage due to water voids all warranties.  Crystals, bands and band parts are not covered in warranty.  Actual warranty will be may additions or deletions noted on billing invoice.  Actual title of the goods listed will be transferred only upon payment in full.  Shipping charges include insurance for actual replacement value of merchandise unless otherwise declared.  All claims for lost items must be made within 90 days of shipping from our offices.  Parts are non-refundable and are only exchangeable if what is sent to customer is not what was requested. There is a minimum diagnosis charge of $25.  This covers the estimate for the repair if customer chooses not to have the repair completed.  If customer accepts the repair estimate, the minimum charge is waived. If COD return shipping is required, an additional $20 fee will be assessed.  NOTICE:  All items not picked up within 30 days of return shipping will be deemed forfeited.  Skinner Watch Repair, LLC will not work on fake, imitation, or replica, etc. watches.
    WATER RESISTANCE GRADE  DEFINITIONS      
    GENERAL WATER RESISTANCE:   A watch that on the case back is stamped "Water  Resistant" and nothing else (no number).    This watch is NOT water resistant in the following cases: 
    • professional deep water diving;   
    • recreational SCUBA diving;   
    • bathing,   
    • swimming,   
    • snorkeling,   
    • hot-tubbing.   
    It does have sufficient water resistant characteristics for:    
    • being out in the rain  
    • washing one's hands.    
    HIGH GRADE WATER RESISTANCE: The case back will be marked "Water Resistant  50m"(eters).   
    This watch is NOT water resistant in the following cases:    
    • professional deep water diving;   
    • recreational SCUBA diving;    
    • hot-tubbing, bathing.    
    It is water resistant for   
    • swimming,   
    • snorkeling,   
    • being out in the rain   
    • washing one's hands.    
    DIVERS WATCH:   The case back will be marked "Water Resistant 100m"(eters).    This watch is NOT water resistant in the following cases:     
    • professional deep water diving.     
    It is water resistant for   
    • recreational SCUBA diving;   
    • hot-tubbing,   
    • bathing;   
    • swimming;   
    • snorkeling;   
    • being out in the rain  
    • washing one's hands.    
    PROFESSIONAL DIVERS WATCH:   The case back will be marked "Water Resistant  300m"(eters) and up.    
    This watch* is water resistant for   
    • professional deep water diving;   
    • recreational SCUBA diving;   
    • hot-tubbing, bathing;   
    • swimming;   
    • snorkeling;   
    • being out in the rain
